Resilience of Filipinos Amid the Challenges of Climate Change

 Climate change has greatly affected farming in the Philippines,The predominant reasons for the sudden or progressive changes in the environment are rooted in both natural and human-induced factors. One of the biggest contributors is global warming caused by excessive greenhouse gas emissions. As industries grow and urbanization expands, the demand for energy and transportation increases, leading to more carbon emissions that trap heat in the atmosphere. This directly affects weather patterns, causing stronger typhoons, prolonged droughts, and unpredictable rainfall. and it caused one of the most serious problems is soil erossion. Many farmers rely on the land for their livelihood, but due to heavy rains, deforestation, and poor land managment, the soil becomes less fertile and harder to use. This leads to lower crop yileds and makes it difficult for farming families to sustain their income. Without proper irrigation and soil conservation measures, agriculture—which is the backbone of many rural communities—suffers greatly, putting food security at risk.


Another major impact is the constant struggle with floods and the need for flood controll. During strong


typhoons and monsoon seasons, rivers overflow and water submerges both farms and residental areas. Poor drainage systems and clogged waterways caused by waste worsens the situation. Many Filipinos lose their homes, belongings, and even lives in these disasters. The government has built flood barriers and drainage chanels, but due to rapid urbanization and climate change, these measures are often not enough to protect vulnerable communities.


Even tho Filipinos suffer from these afects, they continue to show remakable resilience. Communities help each other during times of disaster, rebuilding homes and sharing resources when needed. Families adapt by seeking alternative livelihoods or moving to safer places, while others take part in local preparedness trainings. This spirit of bayanihan proves that despite hardships, Filipinos maintain hope and unity. However, resilience should be matched with stronger environmental protection policies and sustainable practices so that future generations can live safer and more secure lives.

 I am Mark kean m. pacis, I am 15 years old, I am from Vigan city ilocos sur, I was born on april 6th  Im curently a grade 10 student at ISNHS and this is just like my simple blog about myself. Sometimes i just think about how fast time goes, like yesterday i was just a little kid playing around and now im already in highschool trying to figure out what i want to do someday.
